Elizabeth M. Lucas, CAE
Ms. Lucas is a part-time contractor for WA. Specific areas of focus include:

- Achieving Societal Impact
- Interim Executive Management
Prior to her consulting role with WA, she worked over 30 years in leadership roles with three international trade and professional membership organizations; 20 of those years as CEO/Executive Director:
- National Safety Council
- American Massage Therapy Association and Foundation
- Soroptimist International of the Americas
Under her leadership, each of these organizations experienced organic growth and strengthened their financial position through innovation and market expansion.
Earlier, as a small business owner, she assisted Fortune 500 companies from consumer package goods, financial services, environmental health, pharmaceuticals and heavy equipment in their new product introduction and sales training.
She began her career in retail merchandising where she first started working with the innovation process. The industry taught her to identify trends around the globe and adapt them for local consumption.
Lucas holds a master’s degree in business administration in global business and organizational behavior from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in Lake Forest, Illinois; a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and advertising from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa; and a Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
She is an active member of ASAE, and served on the ASAE Research Foundation’s Research Committee, leading their research about Associations Becoming an Effective External Innovation Catalyst. She has spoken at several ASAE conferences on the power of innovation’s value add and new revenue streams. She served as Chair of the ASAE’s Key Professional Association Committee. Her work has been recognized by ASAE and other industry-related organizations. She is currently Treasurer for a community organization and serves on an Advisory Board in higher education.
